MOORHEAD — The Minnesota Secretary of State is looking into whether a candidate for Moorhead City Council violated state campaign law. At last week s homecoming parade, a retired Moorhead fire truck had a campaign sign for Ward 1 candidate Sarah Opitz, and her supporters were riding the truck. Following that came an internal email, sent by Moorhead Fire Chief Jeff Wallin to his staff this week, again asking that all city identifiers be removed from the retired fire truck. Opitz said Friday, Oct. 16, that it was an oversight while trying to set up for the parade. She said this is her first campaign for any type of political position.
